Go into Monet's paintings and have the canvass come alive before your eyes. Hightlights include: the Vernon market, our picnic along the Seine River, Monet's house, Monet's gardens, the Japanese Bridge, the Water Lillies and more!

Details

Our bike tours were designed with the English-speaking traveller in mind (we are American owned and operated)! We offer you the best orientation, an informative and entertaining guide and loads of fun.

Now you can visit Claude Monet's breath-taking gardens, unique house, the quaint villages of Vernon & Giverny and enjoy a fabulous bicycle ride on our private path along the Seine. Allow us to make the out-of-town trip an easy and enjoyable one for you. We'll go by rail through the beautiful wheat & sunflower fields of Normandy, along the lazy Seine river to the village of Vernon.

Once in Vernon we will visit their charming farmers' market to buy our picnic supplies. We'll then hop on our bikes and pedal across the river to a beautiful park along the banks of the Seine for lunch (see the park). At lunch we'll also sample the local's favorite drink: cidre. Of course we know where to send you to buy the best cidre in the region if you want to take some home for a future celebration.

It will then be time for our relaxing 5 km ride down the bike path to the village of Giverny and the world-famous gardens of Claude Monet. We'll cruise past the Giverny church and its cemetery containing graves of local citizens dating back to the 17th century, British soldiers from World War II and even Monet himself buried within his family's vault. We'll pass the Hotel Baudy where Monet welcomed guests such as fellow-Impressionists Manet and Renoir to paint.

We will spend about 1 1/2 hours enjoying Monet's gardens, his house and the famous water lily pond where some of his most famous works originated. Be sure to bring your camera and plenty of film! Additionally, the village of Giverny offers you the American Museum of Art (across the street from Monet's gardens), numerous cafes and small streets begging to be explored. You also have the option of spending some of this time riding 3 km to the actual cidre producer. It's a tough climb at the beginning, but with thousands of bottles of cidre awaiting you at the top, why not? The glide down the hill back to Giverny is effortless too.
